Preparing the Pomeranian Spitz for a show

The Pomeranian Spitz is a very frequent participant in all kinds of dog competitions and shows, and not infrequently a winner. As a rule, we can see a Pomeranian Spitz in the top three of any competition. All of this is the result of training that can begin as soon as your puppy is about five months old.

First, teach your puppy to stand. This is very important as the judges look at the way the animal stands first. As soon as your puppy shows some success, praise him, don’t be stingy with good words, treat him to something tasty.

The Spitz is also proud of its thick, silky coat. It needs to be groomed: bathed, combed so that it doesn’t become tangled, and dried gently with a hairdryer. If you do this properly, you’ll see results in no time. You may not win all the competitions and prizes, but your puppy will look neat and tidy. Plus, a tidy puppy will always be happy, and that’s the best reward for an owner, isn’t it?
