Varieties of Pomeranian Spitz

In general, a Spitz can resemble a quirky animal in appearance. There are two types of Spitz, the “foxy” type and the “bear cub” type. This division is based on the outward resemblance of these dogs to other animals. For example, the first type has an elongated snout, which does indeed resemble the face of a fox. The second type has a square head and not an elongated snout, resembling a teddy bear.

Spitz colours also vary: black, black and spotted, chocolate, red with black (sable), orange, cream, blue, blue spotted, white and bicolour. The Ginger Spitz is considered the classic, as it is the Pomeranian Spitz most often seen at cat shows and in elite kennels.

The question of choosing one type of Spitz or another should be decided on the basis of personal taste and purpose of the purchase. The variety of dogs in this breed has no influence on their character, temperament and health. Therefore, both the cute little bear puppy and the cunning little fox puppy are equally suitable as pets.
