What to do when your Spitz gets sick

The Pomeranian Spitz is a playful and attractive looking dog, highly valued at shows and rarely ill. But a dog is a living creature and one must be prepared for the occasional illness, it is the responsibility of the owner to know the symptoms of an impending problem and to deal with it properly.

Symptoms:

  1. .Vomiting, diarrhoea, severe pain, loss of appetite, low-grade fever, bad breath – If a pet has any of the above symptoms, it may indicate the following conditions

An upset stomach

“A fluffy cat’s Achilles” heel is his digestive system, so it pays to follow the breeder’s instructions on how to feed him and what he should eat. If you know for sure that the cause is not proper feeding, put him on a starvation diet for a day, give him plenty of water and Enterosgel. If you are not sure, seek medical advice, establish the exact diagnosis and only then start treatment, as these symptoms, especially if there is blood in the vomit and diarrhoea, can indicate complex diseases such as: intestinal virus (enteritis, this disease is fatal without vaccination), stomach ulcer, intestinal ulcer, foreign body, gastritis, pancreatitis.

  1. fever, the dog seems apathetic and tired, its appetite is reduced, it has a runny nose, a muffled cough can be heard – these symptoms indicate a problem with the respiratory system. The first thing to realise is that the larynx has a special structure and the cartilage of the larynx is open-jointed and that the dog may cough during vigorous exercise, stress, drinking or breathing in cold air. So the first thing to do is to calm, warm, hold and stroke the dog and within a few minutes the cough will be gone. If this does not happen, then the nature of the cough is different, it may be an allergy or a respiratory infection (bronchitis, rhinitis), to establish the diagnosis you need to go to the veterinary clinic where you will be prescribed antihistamines or antibiotics.
  2. Dandruff, itching or redness of the skin.

These problems are caused by hair damage or can be caused by poor grooming, allergies, stress, dry air or a skin parasite. A quick, professional approach is necessary to determine the cause and start treatment, as these symptoms can lead to alopecia (baldness) and the coat is the most important feature of these lovely dogs.
